Motivations

It can sometimes be hard in badminton to get the amount of competitive practice that you want. Local leagues offer a great opportunity, but generally only in doubles, and (particularly for an inexperienced player) there is no guarantee how many match opportunities you will have.

Badminton England Tournaments are a great experience, but often aren't held locally, they don't necessarily offer a lot of court time, and can be intense.

This website, then, hopes to offer an extra opportunity for badminton enthusiasts who want to build up competition-type experience, improve their play, or simply meet other players.

Asynchronous tournaments?

There are a number of reasons that players might not wish to play more traditional tournaments, held over one or two days. Similarly, there are reasons that make them quite complex to host.

An 'Asynchronous' Tournament offers a simpler, but different, approach. This website does the heavy organisational lifting, collating entries, creating pools and match pairings, and managing the format.

The only burden on you, the player, is to communicate with your given match opponents, and - over the course of a month or so - plan a mutually convenient date and location to have your match. You book the venue and provide the shuttles, sharing the cost between you. This keeps the tournament entry free.
